Capturing energy, movement, and moments you can almost hear.
I brought my camera and 50mm lens to a live music show in Chicago with one goal in mind — to practice capturing movement, emotion, and real moments in challenging lighting.
What I walked away with were images full of energy, connection, and storytelling.
Live music photography pushes you as a photographer. The lighting changes constantly, people move quickly, and you have to anticipate moments before they happen. It’s a lesson in watching, waiting, and reacting at just the right time.
These photos remind me that great photography isn’t about perfect conditions. It’s about understanding light, reading people, and knowing when to press the shutter.
This experience sharpened my skills in a way that carries into every session I photograph — weddings, families, seniors, and events.
This is what event photography in Chicago and throughout Illinois looks like through my lens.
